The Ø84 mm NWKc metal drill bit with an MT6 Morse taper belongs to the heaviest-duty class of twist drills — it requires a machine tool with a power rating above 7 kW and rigid box-column construction. The MT6 taper with a diameter of 63.35 mm is the largest standard Morse taper size, providing toolholding suited to extreme loads. The Ø84 Morse taper drill bit operates only with a pilot hole and abundant pressurized coolant.

The Ø84 Morse taper drill bit is used exclusively in heavy machinery manufacturing — turbine units, rolling mills, presses, and mining machinery. Typical applications include holes in thick plates (>50 mm), housing castings, and load-bearing frame components. Tolerance grade H12 (Ø84.000–Ø84.350 mm); more accurate holes are produced exclusively by boring.

Pressurized coolant is mandatory
At a diameter of 84 mm, drilling without pressurized coolant is not permitted. Minimum coolant system flow rate: 10 l/min, emulsion concentration 8–10%. Lack of cooling leads to cutting-edge overheating, hardening of the material in the cutting zone, and drill breakage.

Frequently asked questions about the Ø84 mm drill bit
At least 7 kW with an MT6 Morse taper spindle and power feed. Radial drilling machines with an arm length of at least 1200 mm. Torque at a diameter of 84 mm in steel exceeds 200 Nm.
At least two: 1) a Ø25–30 mm pilot hole, 2) the final Ø84 mm drill bit. For diameters above 90 mm, consider three stages: pilot Ø25 → intermediate Ø50 → final Ø84 mm.
Pressurized coolant is mandatory: emulsion concentration 8–10%, minimum flow rate 10 l/min. Lack of cooling leads to cutting-edge overheating, hardening of the cutting zone, and tool breakage.
