Manufacturer of ER collets in Poland

In Poland, the largest manufacturer of collets is the company Bison-Bial, specifically Kolno. This company produces ER collets in sizes ranging from ER16, ER20, ER25, ER32, ER40.

Collets have a distinctive appearance: they have notches on their lateral surface, this is the standard for clamping cylindrical tools in lathe and milling toolholders.
The design of collets is simple and universal in use, that is why it is also so popular.
ER collets are clamped in collet chucks, in which, in turn, milling tools with cylindrical shank are clamped.
The way to clamp ER collets is to place it at an angle in the nut, then the nut with the mounted collet is clamped in the toolholder. The types of tapered and cylindrical mounts are: DIN 69781-A, MAS-404 BT, DIN 2080, DIN 228, DIN 69893 A and DIN 1835. Clamp-on milling toolholders themselves come in several varieties due to the type of clamping, in the machine spindle. Such mountings are divided into 4 main ones, and depending on it, the name of the collet toolholder model is derived.

The ER collet is based on the E collet, designed by the Rego- Fix company. The company's owner Mr. Fritz Weber designed and patented the ER collet by adding a notch to the E collet. The reason for this was that the predecessor of the sleeve, the E version, was easy to insert into the nut, but difficult to remove, making it necessary for users to use force ( by hitting it with a hammer or other objects ). This made the sleeves quickly damaged during operation, and as a consequence, the profitability of their use dropped significantly.

The name ER collet itself has a rather interesting origin. Well, the owner of the Rego Fix company Mr. Fritz Weber was the originator and inventor of the tools, and most interestingly he had his company in the attic of his residence in Reigoldswil, Switzerland. The company in 1980 officially adopted the name Rego-Fix with the part of the name Rego coming from the city of its founding and Fix from tool repair. And the letter R in "ER collet" stands for Rego-Fix, representing the company's modification of the E collet design.

Strengths of the ER collet

ER collets are characterized by high strength. They are resistant to mechanical damage, which makes them unquestionably considered the best on the market. The collet has a clearly defined task. It is to act as a support, it holds both the workpiece material and the tool to be machined in a strong clamp. Only with a strong and stable clamping is it possible to work effectively.
Collets are used for threading machines, milling machines, during machining, when precise and stable work on a workpiece is necessary. Thus, they are effectively used for clamping cutting tools, milling cutters, drills or taps.

ER sleeves are made of fully hardened alloy steel, which ensures adequate durability and service life. This steel is additionally spring-loaded, so it guarantees fully safe and effective operation.
