Self-clamping drill chucks

Quick-change drill chucks by virtue of their mounting can be divided into chucks with a shank on a shortened cone with a designation such as B16. This means that in the drill chuck there is a hole with a diameter of Fi 16 mm. Such drill chucks are ideal for professional drilling with drills, lathes or milling machines. It is possible to use clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. The limitation of such a mount is the use of a percussion, but the percussion is used only when drilling concrete or other types of stone. Another possible mounting is that of a drill chuck with a unified thread UNF 1/2-20 or or UNF 5/8-16. These are less commonly used mounts due to the lack of left-hand rotation drilling.

We can also divide drill chucks by the method of fixing the drill bit into self-clamping drill fur chucks and key chucks.

Self-clamping chucks with a Morse taper are the most common chucks. They allow the operator to install any cylindrical shank drill bit very quickly and remove it. It also does not require the use of a wrench. To install the drill in the chuck, it is enough to manually rotate the outer ring of the chuck so that the jaws clamp on the cylindrical part of the drill.

Advantages of drill chucks

Key drill chucks were the first to be produced due to their simple design and reliability. They allow fast and secure mounting of any metal or stainless steel drill bit, or any other tool with a cylindrical shank that fits into the chuck.

In Poland the largest manufacturer of such drill chucks is the company Jango and Bison-Bial. The company Jango is mainly engaged in the production of such chucks, while the company Bison-Bial has in its offer many other drilling tools.
