The Ø100 mm HSS metal drill bit with an MT6 Morse taper is a tool for the most demanding drilling operations, where the hole diameter requires maximum contact area between the taper and spindle. At 100 mm, the volume of chips removed per centimeter of depth is several times greater than at diameters associated with MT4 tapers. The Ø100 Morse taper drill bit requires pressurized coolant and peck drilling.

Machine tool requirements
The Ø100 mm drill bit requires a machine tool with a power rating of at least 7 kW, an MT6 Morse taper spindle, and power feed. Radial drilling machines require an arm length of at least 1200 mm. The workpiece must be rigidly clamped — cutting forces at this diameter can displace an inadequately secured plate.

Frequently asked questions about the Ø100 mm drill bit
At least 7 kW with an MT6 Morse taper spindle and power feed. Radial drilling machines with an arm length of at least 1200 mm. Torque at a diameter of 100 mm in steel exceeds 200 Nm.
At least two: 1) a Ø25–30 mm pilot hole, 2) the final Ø100 mm drill bit. For diameters above 90 mm, consider three stages: pilot Ø25 → intermediate Ø50 → final Ø100 mm.
Pressurized coolant is mandatory: emulsion concentration 8–10%, minimum flow rate 10 l/min. Lack of cooling leads to cutting-edge overheating, hardening of the cutting zone, and tool breakage.
