Chipbreaker inserts are designed for folding lathe knives. Their purpose is to prevent the chip from flowing freely. Instead, the chip curls or breaks. Chipbreaker inserts have a smooth top surface and come in two shape varieties: triangular (with the symbol PT) and rectangular (with the symbol PK).
