M16X1 HSS DIN 22 568 die – ultra-precise fine threading on larger cross sections
The M16X1 threading die is a specialized tool for cutting external threads with a diameter of 16 mm and an ultra-fine pitch of 1 mm. Made from high-speed steel (HSS) hardened to 64 HRC in accordance with DIN 22 568, it provides dimensional repeatability in professional applications. The M16X1 metric die is designed for machining structural steels with a tensile strength of up to 800 MPa and nonferrous alloys.

The M16X1 ultra-fine thread is used in high-pressure hydraulic systems above 300 bar, precision measuring equipment, aircraft components, and joints requiring maximum leak tightness and strength within minimal assembly space.
According to DIN 22 568 for class 6g, the rod should have a diameter of 15.82-15.92 mm. Chamfer the edge at 45° over a length of 4 mm to prevent damage to the first cutting edges when starting the cut.
For structural steels, recommended speeds are 10-15 rpm using a machine die holder or a lever-operated holder. Backing off half a turn after every two full turns and applying generous lubrication with threading oil or emulsion are mandatory.
