M45X1.5 HSS die, DIN 22 568 – fine threading on very large cross sections
The M45X1.5 threading die is a specialized tool for cutting external metric fine threads with a diameter of 45 mm and a pitch of 1.5 mm. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) hardened to 64 HRC in accordance with DIN 22 568, it provides dimensional precision in large-scale applications. The M45X1.5 metric die is designed for machining structural steels with a tensile strength of up to 800 MPa and light alloys.

The M45X1.5 metric fine thread is used in heavy industry, mining machinery, high-tonnage hydraulic presses, marine engines, and wherever very large-diameter threaded connections with increased resistance to vibration and dynamic loads are required.
The outside diameter of the rod should be 44.80-44.92 mm for tolerance 6g according to DIN 22 568. Chamfer the rod end at 45° over a length of 10 mm to prevent damage to the leading cutting edges when starting the thread.
Due to the very large diameter, machine threading using an axially compensating holder or a torque-controlled drive at 6-8 rpm is mandatory for steel. Reversing half a turn after every two full turns, applying ample threading oil, and secure clamping to eliminate all vibration are essential.
