Frequently asked questions
Chamfer the end of the rod (diameter 42.6-42.7 mm) at 45°. Clamp the workpiece securely and guide the die perpendicular, making two full turns in the cutting direction, then reverse half a turn. With a fine pitch, check perpendicular alignment more frequently and lubricate generously every 2-3 turns.
Use specialized threading oils, applied generously before starting and regularly during operation. With a fine pitch of 1.5 mm, lubrication should be more intensive than with a standard pitch – apply lubricant every 2-3 turns. For difficult-to-machine steels, use cutting fluid emulsions.
A metric fine thread generates more chips per unit of length. At the first signs of increased resistance, immediately unscrew the die, clean the flutes thoroughly, and verify the rod diameter. Resume with more frequent reversing (every 1.5 turn) and a generous application of fresh lubricant. Never force a jammed die.
