Frequently asked questions
Prepare a rod (diameter 0.95-0.97 mm) with a carefully formed microchamfer under a microscope. Working under a high-quality stereo microscope is absolutely mandatory. Position the die perpendicular with ultra-high precision and turn it extremely gently, making half a turn forward and a quarter turn back. At ultramicroscopic dimensions, the slightest excessive pressure causes immediate tool breakage.
Use ultra-precision synthetic oils for micromechanics in ultramicroscopic quantities applied with a micropipette. At a diameter of 1 mm, excess lubricant makes visual monitoring under the microscope completely impossible. Apply a single microscopic drop before starting and replenish it with ultra-high precision every few turns.
Ultramicroscopic cutting edges are extremely delicate and break under the slightest overload. At the slightest increase in resistance, stop immediately and withdraw with ultra-high precision under full microscopic observation. Check the rod diameter under the microscope (the tolerance of ±0.02 mm is absolutely critical). Clean the flutes with an ultra-precision microscopic brush. Resume only with the highest reversing frequency: every half turn under full visual observation through the microscope.
