The designation 6g specifies a general-purpose accuracy grade with assembly clearance that allows nuts to be installed without difficulty. It is the most common standard in heavy industry requiring ultra-precise joints at large diameters.
Chamfer the edge of the shaft at 45°, secure the workpiece in a specialized fixture that eliminates vibration, and guide the die perpendicular to it. Due to the large diameter and ultra-fine pitch, two-person operation or a powered die holder is recommended. Apply plenty of lubricant after each turn and regularly reverse half a turn.
