Frequently asked questions
Chamfer the edge of the shaft at 45°, secure the workpiece in a lathe chuck or specialized fixture, and guide the die perpendicular to the axis. Due to the very large diameter, operation by two people or the use of a powered die holder is recommended. Apply lubricant generously after each full turn.
The designation 6g specifies a general-purpose level of accuracy with assembly clearance, allowing trouble-free nut installation. It is the most common standard in heavy industry and large machinery structures.
The tool is designed for machining structural steels with a maximum tensile strength of 800 MPa and gray cast iron. The maximum hardness of the workpiece material is 40 HRC.
