The M12X1 metric die is a tool for cutting external threads with a diameter of 12 mm and an ultra-fine pitch of 1 mm. Made of high-speed steel (HSS) hardened to 64 HRC according to DIN 22 568, it ensures the highest dimensional precision. The rod diameter should be 11.82-11.92 mm for class 6g. Chamfer the edge at 45° and remove any burrs that could damage the first cutting edges as cutting begins.
Due to the high thread density, ample lubrication with a specialized threading oil or emulsion is essential. Dry operation causes tool overheating, loss of hardness, and a reduction in service life of more than 70 percent.
