Due to its unusual combination of features, it requires an operator with the highest qualifications, very stable clamping, and intensive lubrication with dedicated products.
Frequently asked questions
Prepare a chamfered rod (diameter 47.85-47.9 mm). Clamp it very securely to eliminate any vibration. Keep the die strictly perpendicular to the rod, make one full turn forward, then reverse half a turn. With an ultrafine pitch, check perpendicular alignment more frequently and apply ample lubricant every turn.
An ultrafine-pitch thread requires the most intensive lubrication. Use high-quality specialized threading oils, applying them generously before every turn. At a diameter of 48 mm and a pitch of 1 mm, a very large number of chips is generated – lubricant must be present at all times to keep the process running smoothly.
An ultrafine pitch generates an extremely large number of chips per unit length. At the first signs of increased resistance, immediately back the die off completely and clean the flutes very thoroughly. Resume with the most frequent reversing possible (every 1 turn or even every 0.75 turn) and a generous application of fresh lubricant. Never force a jammed die.
