M12x1 left-hand HSS die DIN 22 568 – left-hand ultra-fine threading in small cross sections
The M12x1 left-hand threading die is an advanced round die for cutting left-hand external threads with a diameter of 12 mm and an ultra-fine pitch of 1 mm. Made from high-speed steel (HSS) hardened to 64 HRC in accordance with DIN 22 568, it provides high dimensional accuracy in precision applications. The M12x1 left-hand metric die is designed for machining structural steels with a tensile strength of up to 800 MPa and nonferrous alloys.

The die is used in precision clockwise-rotating spindles, precision hydraulics, and wherever self-locking protection with maximum strength is required. Tolerance 6g ensures compatibility with 6H left-hand nuts. Precision engineering workshops use the M12x1 left-hand die in the production of precision spindles, hydraulic components, and wherever the priority is the maximum number of thread turns with protection against loosening in rotating equipment.
Frequently asked questions
Combining an extra-fine pitch of 1 mm with a left-hand direction provides triple protection: the left-hand thread prevents loosening during clockwise rotation, the extra-fine pitch increases the number of thread turns for maximum strength, and the increased friction surface further resists self-loosening of the joint.
The rod outside diameter should be 11.82-11.92 mm for tolerance class 6g according to DIN 22 568. Chamfer the end of the rod at 45° over a length of 3 mm before starting to cut the thread.
