Frequently asked questions
Prepare a rod (diameter 27.85-27.9 mm) with a carefully formed chamfer. Clamp it very securely to eliminate vibration. Turn the die to the left (counterclockwise), making one full turn forward and half a turn back to the right. With a left-hand ultra-fine pitch of 1 mm, check perpendicularity very frequently and lubricate on every turn to ensure quality.
An ultra-fine pitch requires the most intensive lubrication regardless of thread direction. Use high-quality threading oils, applying them generously before every turn. At a diameter of 28 mm and a pitch of 1 mm, a very large number of chips is generated – lubricant must be present at all times for smooth left-hand thread cutting.
Remember that backing off a left-hand thread requires clockwise rotation. An ultra-fine pitch generates an extremely large volume of chips. Immediately turn clockwise (to the right) to withdraw the die. Clean the flutes very thoroughly and verify the rod diameter with a micrometer (tolerances are very tight for ultra-fine threads). Resume with the most frequent possible backing off (every 0.75-1 turn) and fresh, top-quality lubrication.
