Die M16x1.5 left-hand HSS DIN 22 568 – left-hand fine threading in common diameters
The M16x1.5 left-hand threading die is an advanced round die for cutting external left-hand threads with a diameter of 16 mm and a fine pitch of 1.5 mm. Manufactured from high-speed steel (HSS) hardened to 64 HRC in accordance with DIN 22 568, it ensures high dimensional accuracy in demanding applications. The M16x1.5 left-hand metric die is designed for machining structural steels with a maximum tensile strength of 800 MPa and light alloys.

This die is used in automotive applications, rotating machinery, and wherever the direction of rotation requires the joint to be secured. Class 6g ensures compatibility with 6H left-hand nuts. Mechanical workshops use the M16x1.5 left-hand die in the production of transmission components rotating clockwise, industrial spindles, and wherever protection against self-loosening is required together with increased strength under intense vibration.

According to DIN 22 568 for tolerance 6g, the rod should have a diameter of 15.80-15.92 mm. Chamfer the end of the rod at 45° over a length of 4 mm to facilitate engagement of the first cutting edges of the left-hand die.
Prepare a rod of the appropriate diameter and chamfer the end at 45°. Secure it firmly in a vise and keep the die perpendicular to the axis while turning counterclockwise, backing off half a turn every two full turns and applying plenty of threading oil.
