M75x1.5 left-hand HSS die – left-hand fine threading at extremely large diameters, DIN 22 568
The M75x1.5 left-hand metric die is a specialized round die for cutting external left-hand threads with a diameter of 75 mm and a fine pitch of 1.5 mm. Made from high-speed steel (HSS) hardened to 64 HRC in accordance with DIN 22 568, it guarantees high dimensional accuracy in large-scale applications requiring reverse-direction threads. The M75x1.5 left-hand threading die is designed for cutting threads in structural steels with a maximum tensile strength of 800 MPa.

The M75x1.5 left-hand thread is used in the highest-power marine engines, power plant turbine sets, and high-tonnage industrial presses. A fine pitch of 1.5 mm at a diameter of 75 mm provides the maximum number of threads for strength in rotating components with very large diameters.
The outside diameter of the bar should be 74.80 to 74.92 mm in accordance with tolerance 6g per DIN 22 568. Chamfer the end of the bar at 45° over a minimum length of 18 mm to prevent damage to the first cutting edges at such a large diameter.
Due to the extremely large diameter of 75 mm, a machine drive with very high torque at 4-8 rpm is mandatory for steel. A holder with axial compensation, intensive cooling with high-pressure emulsion, and stable clamping that eliminates all workpiece vibration are required.
