Frequently asked questions
Prepare a rod (diameter 74.5-74.6 mm) with a machined chamfer. Due to the very large diameter, a top-grade professional mechanical drive is absolutely mandatory – an industrial lathe or a specialized threading machine. Rotate to the left (counterclockwise), making two turns forward, then one reverse movement of half a turn. When cutting a very large-diameter left-hand thread, use maximum clamping rigidity and full team supervision.
Use intensive lubrication with top-quality threading oils or a cooling and lubricating emulsion for the most demanding applications. Apply very generously before starting and every 2-3 turns. Due to the extreme cutting forces at a diameter of 75 mm (the left-hand direction does not change the requirements – diameter is the determining factor), be sure to consider a professional industrial automatic lubrication system to ensure a continuous supply of lubricant.
Remember that backing off a left-hand thread requires clockwise rotation. At a very large diameter of 75 mm, problems are extremely dangerous and costly. Immediately stop the mechanical drive according to the safety protocol and withdraw the die by rotating clockwise in reverse mode under full control of the automation system and the team. Check all parameters very carefully (diameter with a tolerance of ±0.05 mm measured at multiple points, perpendicularity, and clamping). Resume only with maximum caution, more frequent backing off (every 1.5 turn), and fresh lubrication under the supervision of a certified team with many years of experience in left-hand threads of extreme dimensions.
