Prepare the rod (diameter 5.9-5.95 mm) with a carefully machined chamfer. Working under a magnifying glass or microscope is necessary. Turn the die to the left (counterclockwise), making one full turn forward followed by half a turn back to the right. With this combination (miniature + left-hand + fine thread), check perpendicular alignment constantly and avoid any excessive pressure.
Use precision machine oils in minimal quantities – excess oil impairs visual inspection at miniature dimensions. Apply a microscopic drop of oil before starting and replenish every few turns. For a miniature left-hand metric fine thread, lubricant must be present but must not flood the work area.
Miniature cutting edges for left-hand threads are extremely delicate. At the slightest increase in resistance, immediately turn very gently to the right (the removal direction for a left-hand thread).
