Ø1 metal drill bit with a straight shank
1 mm metal drill bit HSS DIN 338 is designed for drilling nominal-size holes in structural steels, cast iron, and nonferrous alloys; in workshop applications, also used as a Ø1 mm metal drill bit, it ensures a stable cutting path and maintains dimensions within IT12 tolerance grade.
The nominal diameter is 1 mm. The 118° point angle balances cutting forces and facilitates smooth entry into the material, while precision-ground helical flutes support continuous chip evacuation during right-hand cutting. The drill bits are designed for conventional lathes, milling machines, and drilling machines, as well as specialized computer numerical control machine tools. The high-purity high-speed steel (HSS) core provides wear resistance and cutting edge stability. The length conforms to DIN 338 (jobber length), and the straight shank allows use in standard chucks. Emulsion or oil mist cooling, micrometer-scale feed, high spindle speeds, and rigid clamping are recommended.
- Reliable entry into the material — the 118° geometry reduces wandering at the start and stabilizes the drilling axis.
- Repeatable IT12 tolerance grade — dimensional stability is maintained by a Ø1 mm drill bit for steel with appropriately selected speeds, feed, and rigid clamping.
- Uniform hole surface finish — polished flutes reduce friction, promoting low hole wall roughness.
- Cutting edge durability — homogeneous high-speed steel (HSS) slows wear in single-part and short-run production.
Compliance with DIN 338 and reference to PN-EN ISO 286 allow the resulting holes to be classified for workshop fits; consequently A Ø1 mm metal drill bit ensures a predictable diameter, axial alignment, and a clean exit edge in typical micromachining tasks.
