Ø0.9 metal drill bit with a straight shank
0.9 mm metal drill bit HSS DIN 338 is designed for microdrilling in structural steels, cast iron, and nonferrous alloys; in practice, it runs steadily and maintains tolerance grade IT12.
The length compliant with DIN 338 (standard length) and the straight shank facilitate use in standard chucks; during machining, using a Ø0.9 mm drill bit for steel, high spindle speeds, micrometer-scale feed, emulsion or oil mist cooling, and rigid clamping are recommended. The drills are designed for conventional lathes, milling machines, and drilling machines, as well as specialized computer numerical control machine tools. The nominal diameter is 0.9 mm. The 118° point angle balances cutting forces and facilitates smooth entry into the material, while ground spiral flutes ensure continuous chip evacuation during right-hand cutting. The core, made of homogeneous, high-purity high-speed steel (HSS), increases wear resistance and edge stability.
- Stable, on-axis starting — the 118° geometry reduces wandering on entry and stabilizes the drilling path.
- Even hole wall surface finish — polished flutes reduce friction, promoting low surface roughness and a clean exit edge.
- IT12 repeatability — dimensional accuracy can be maintained with suitable cutting parameters and rigid clamping.
- Cutting edge life — homogeneous high-speed steel extends operating time between resharpenings in single-piece and short-run production cycles.
Compliance with DIN 338 and reference to PN-EN ISO 286 allow holes to be classified for workshop fits; as a result A Ø0.9 mm metal drill bit ensures predictable diameter and axial alignment in typical micromachining tasks.
