Where chips remain in a straight-flute tap
The flute holds the chips until the tap is reversed out
The straight flute runs parallel to the tap axis. There is no helix to carry chips upward. The chamfer cutting edges are not ground at an angle, so they do not push chips downward. Short chips break into fragments and remain in the flute, next to the cutting edges that produced them. They leave the hole only when the tap is backed out. The M8x0.75 tap has a reduced shank to DIN 374: diameter 6 mm, square size 4.9 mm.
M8x0.75 INOX machine tap – HSSE tool for stainless steel
The M8x0.75 INOX machine tap is designed for precision tapping of holes with a diameter of 8 mm and a fine pitch of 0.75 mm in stainless and structural steels. HSSE high-speed steel construction with 5% added cobalt ensures a hardness of 66 HRC and long cutting edge life even when machining difficult-to-machine materials. Form C with straight flutes provides versatile use in through and blind holes. The 6H tolerance in accordance with DIN 374 confirms high manufacturing quality. The M8x0.75 HSSE machine tap is intended for departments engaged in series production of precision components.
Key features of the M8x0.75 tap for through and blind holes
- Fine pitch of 0.75 mm provides the maximum number of threads per unit length, increasing sealing performance and connection load capacity in precision components
- Compliance with DIN 374 for fine threads confirms quality and ensures standardized shank dimensions compatible with European holders
- Durability increased by the addition of 5% cobalt allows operation at temperatures up to 650°C without loss of cutting edge performance
- Material versatility covering 304 and 316 austenitic stainless steels, structural steels up to 800 MPa, and nonferrous metals
- Compatibility with ER16 holders and tapping heads for CNC machining centers with synchronous tapping and automatic tool changing
- M8x0.75 general-purpose machine tap with form C allows through and blind holes to be tapped with a single tool without the risk of jamming
The M8x0.75 HSSE machine tap is used in electronics and precision engineering requiring metric fine threads. It performs well in optical component manufacturing. The tap drill diameter for the M8x0.75 thread is 7.25 mm.

Frequently asked questions
The M8x0.75 HSSE tap is suitable for austenitic stainless steels 304 and 316, structural steels up to 800 MPa, ductile cast iron, and aluminum and brass alloys. It is not recommended for hardened steels above 45 HRC.
The nominal tap drill diameter for the M8x0.75 thread is 7.25 mm. The hole tolerance range should be 7.15–7.35 mm. A hole at the lower tolerance limit produces a fuller thread profile, while one at the upper limit reduces tapping torque.
The M8x0.75 tap works with ER16 holders and tapping chucks with axial compensation. Synchronized heads with automatic tool change capability are recommended for CNC machines.
