Where chips remain in a straight-flute tap
The flute holds the chips until the tap is reversed out
The straight flute runs parallel to the tap axis. There is no helix to carry chips upward. The chamfer cutting edges are not ground at an angle, so they do not push chips downward. Short chips break into fragments and remain in the flute, next to the cutting edges that produced them. They leave the hole only when the tap is backed out. The M35x1.5 tap has a reduced shank to DIN 374: diameter 28 mm, square size 22 mm.
M35x1.5 INOX machine tap – general-purpose HSSE tool for CNC machining
The M35x1.5 INOX machine tap is a professional tool for cutting M35 internal threads with a fine pitch of 1.5 mm in stainless and structural steels. Its HSSE high-speed steel construction with 5% cobalt provides a hardness of 66 HRC and high resistance to cutting zone temperatures up to 650°C. Form C with straight flutes allows tapping of both through holes and blind holes without changing tools. The 6H tolerance in accordance with DIN 374 guarantees dimensional repeatability. The M35x1.5 general-purpose machine tap is designed for toolrooms and CNC machining center operators.
Key advantages of the M35x1.5 tap for through holes and blind holes
- Durability and heat resistance thanks to HSSE steel with 5% cobalt, which retains its cutting properties at temperatures up to 650°C in the contact zone with the workpiece material
- Compliance with DIN 374 for metric fine threads confirms standardized dimensions and full compatibility with European toolholding systems
- Precision to tolerance class 6H guarantees the dimensional accuracy required in the production of hydraulic power components and high-quality industrial valves and fittings
- Compatibility with ER40 holders and tapping chucks with axial compensation for synchronous tapping on CNC and conventional machines
- Designed for stainless steels austenitic grades 304 and 316 and ferritic grades, which require tools with increased heat and abrasion resistance
- M35x1.5 HSSE machine tap with form C evacuates chips properly in through holes and blind holes without the risk of thread damage
The M35x1.5 machine tap for through holes and blind holes is used in the production of industrial valves and fittings and hydraulic power components. Cooling with an EP emulsion at a minimum concentration of 8% extends tool life. The tap drill diameter for the M35x1.5 thread is 33.5 mm.

Frequently asked questions
With proper cooling and lubrication, the M35x1.5 HSSE tap cuts 400-600 threads in structural steel or 250-350 threads in stainless steel. Dry operation reduces tool life by 40-50%.
Yes, the M35x1.5 HSSE tap with 5% cobalt is designed for austenitic stainless steels 304 and 316. The addition of cobalt increases heat resistance in the cutting zone to 650°C.
An HSSE tap contains 5% cobalt, which increases hardness from 64 to 66 HRC and heat resistance to 650°C. HSSE is suitable for stainless steels, while HSS is suitable only for structural steels up to 800 MPa.
