Ø25 mm reduced-shank HSS metal drill bit – an advanced machining tool
High-performance drill bit with a diameter of 25 mm and a reduced shank belongs to the category of professional HSS tools for machining metallic materials. The shank reduced to 12.7 mm (half an inch) allows immediate use in commonly used chucks. A solution designed for industry: technical service facilities, machinery manufacturing, and workshops specializing in steel structures.
Technical characteristics of the Varel Ø25 mm drill bit
- Design with a half-inch reduced shank – easy installation in industrial drilling machines and magnetic drills without adapters
- IT11 workshop tolerance per ISO 286-1 – holes with a dimensional accuracy of ±130 µm, suitable for assembly joints and workshop connections
- Precision ground finish – ensures stable guidance and reduces drilling resistance by one quarter
- Efficient operation in steels up to 35 HRC – intended for S235 and S355 steels, cast iron, aluminum, and brass
- Varel-branded drill bit – guaranteed precision manufacturing in accordance with European standards
Reduced-shank technology eliminates compatibility issues between larger-diameter tools and standard drilling machines. The polished surface limits heat generation during intensive operation, making the drill bit reliable in production applications requiring repeatability and precision.
Frequently asked questions
This tool performs exceptionally well in S235 and S355 structural steels with a maximum hardness of 35 HRC, gray cast iron, aluminum alloys, and brass. It is not suitable for steels hardened above 35 HRC or stainless steel grades with high chromium and nickel content.
Larger-diameter drill bits generate considerable heat during cutting, making cooling essential. Proper use of emulsion or oil extends drill life by up to 60 percent and significantly improves hole surface finish.
For S235 structural steel, we recommend a speed range of 180-260 rpm, while S355 steel requires a setting of 140-200 rpm. Excessive spindle speeds cause overheating and loss of cutting edge hardness, significantly shortening tool life.
