Ø26 mm reduced-shank HSS metal drill bit – a precision tool for industry
The Ø26 mm reduced-shank metal drill bit is a professional HSS tool with a 12.7 mm (1/2-inch) reduced shank. The reduced shank allows mounting in standard drill chucks without specialized adapters. An ideal solution for toolrooms, industrial workshops, and series production of steel components.
Key advantages of the Varel Ø26 mm reduced-shank drill bit
- Universal 1/2-inch shank – compatible with stationary drilling machines and magnetic drills with a standard socket
- IT11 tolerance per ISO 286-1 – produces workshop holes with an accuracy of ±130 µm, sufficient for assembly bolts and joints that do not require a specified fit
- Ground working surface – ensures precise guidance in the material and reduces drilling resistance by 25 percent
- Machining steels up to 35 HRC – performs well in S235 and S355 structural steels, gray cast iron, and aluminum
The Ø26 mm reduced-shank drill bit eliminates the need for cumbersome shank reducers. The polished surface minimizes overheating during intensive operation, making the tool suitable for daily use in workshop and production environments.
Frequently asked questions
This tool performs exceptionally well in S235 and S355 structural steels with a hardness up to 35 HRC, as well as cast iron, aluminum, and brass. We do not recommend use in hardened steels exceeding 35 HRC or in high-chromium steels.
Using coolant with large-diameter tools is highly recommended. It extends drill life by approximately 60 percent and significantly improves the accuracy of the resulting holes.
For S235 steel, we recommend a range of 180 to 250 rpm, and for S355, 150 to 200 rpm. Excessive spindle speed causes tool overheating and rapid loss of cutting performance.
