The Unified family includes: UNF – fine threads, UNEF – extra fine threads, UNS – special threads, and UN – constant-pitch threads with 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 28, or 32 threads per inch.
UNC threads have a coarser pitch and fewer threads per inch than UNF. No 6 UNC has 32 threads, while No 6 UNF has 40 threads per inch. Inch thread gauges are used for identification.
