The Unified family also includes: UNF – fine thread, UNEF – extra fine thread, UNS – special thread, and UN – constant-pitch threads: 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 28, or 32 threads per inch.
UNC has a coarser pitch and fewer threads per inch than UNF. No 12 UNC has 24 threads per inch, while No 12 UNF has 28 threads per inch. Inch thread pitch gauges are used for identification.
