The Unified system also includes: UNF – fine threads, UNEF – extra-fine threads, UNS – special threads with nonstandard dimensions, and UN – constant-pitch threads with 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 28, or 32 threads per inch.
The UNC standard has a coarser pitch and fewer threads per inch than UNF. A 1 1/4 inch UNC thread has 7 threads per inch, while a 1 1/4 inch UNF thread has 12 threads per inch. Thread pitch gauges are used for identification.
