Ø2 mm wood end mill is a solid carbide (VHM) tool for precision machining of small parts on CNC machines. The 2 mm diameter offers an excellent balance between detail accuracy and tool strength – it allows narrow slots and lettering to be machined faster than with a 1 mm end mill while maintaining resistance to breakage. The single ground cutting edge from manufacturer Horn on a 3.175 mm (1/8") shank ensures a clean edge and repeatability.

Frequently asked questions
The 2 mm end mill is designed for detail work: engraving letters, narrow slots, inlay work and model making in solid wood, MDF, plywood and plastics such as acrylic and PVC. It produces finer detail than 3–4 mm end mills while being noticeably more durable than a 1 mm micro end mill.
The optimal spindle speed is 20000–24000 rpm and the feed rate is 440–864 mm/min, depending on wood hardness. We recommend a shallow depth of cut per pass (approx. 0.5–1 mm) and smooth tool movement to protect the thin cutting edge and improve edge quality.
The 2 mm end mill cuts a slightly wider line but is significantly more resistant to breakage and allows higher feed rates. Choose the 1 mm end mill for the finest details, while the 2 mm version is a safer and more productive choice for most graphic and decorative work.
