Hand tapping toolM14 DIN 352/3 is an advanced cutting tool designed for cutting 14 mm diameter metric internal threads in preparation holes. The key technical requirement is to make the hole with a drill with a diameter of 11.9 mm - maintaining this tolerance guarantees the correct formation of the thread profile and adequate strength of the connection. HSS high-speed steel was selected for its optimal balance between hardness and toughness when machining structural steels, alloy steels and non-ferrous metals. For deep holes exceeding 20 mm, it is recommended to use a set of M14 taps that allows for staged full thread forming.
The M14 metric thread has a standard pitch of 2.0 mm compatible with commonly available metric bolts and nuts. Accuracy grade 6H represents a medium fit used in most machine and assembly applications. The M14 hand tapping set includes three tools with varying profiles: a pre-slide tapping tool removes about 55 percent of the material, an intermediate tapping tool deepens the grooves to 85 percent, and a finishing tool forms the final coil geometry. Operation requires a knob with an 8 mm square socket corresponding to size No. 4.
