Frequently asked questions
ER40 series collets allow tools with straight shanks in the 3-26 mm range to be clamped. A diameter of 3 mm is the smallest standard size in this system, and each collet has a clamping tolerance of 1 mm.
Insert the collet into the nut at an angle, engage its groove with the eccentric lip, and press until it clicks into place. Then fit the nut onto the tool holder and tighten it to the recommended torque using the dedicated wrench.
ER sizes are distinguished by their external dimensions: ER11 measures 11.5×18 mm, ER16 measures 17×28 mm, ER20 measures 21×31 mm, ER25 measures 26×34 mm, ER32 measures 33×40 mm, and ER40 measures 41×46 mm. The size is marked on the body in accordance with DIN 6499.
