Frequently asked questions
The ER40 system allows tools with straight shanks in the 3-26 mm range to be clamped. The clamping tolerance of each size is 1 mm, increasing versatility in tooling selection.
Insert the collet into the nut at an angle, engage its groove with the eccentric lip, and press until it clicks into place. Then fit the nut onto the tool holder and tighten it to the recommended torque using the dedicated wrench.
Individual sizes have different external dimensions: ER11 measures 11.5×18 mm, ER16 measures 17×28 mm, ER20 measures 21×31 mm, ER25 measures 26×34 mm, ER32 measures 33×40 mm, and ER40 measures 41×46 mm. The size is printed on the body in accordance with DIN 6499.
