This is a material characterized by increased strength and hardness. HSS drills are suitable for machining P1 grade materials. 2 - P1.3. They are also called crown or trepanning drills. Their advantage is that they can produce large diameter holes. Machining is carried out only on the periphery, which reduces the working time by about 30-40% compared to standard drills. In addition, such a method of machining affects a smaller amount of cut chips. Trepanning drills fi 38 for tubular metal have a metric shank of ¾ inch, mounted directly in the collet or through a special adapter for Morse taper. The advantage of the drills is also increased resistance to possible mechanical damage, as well as the possibility of re-sharpening.
