Tapered drills - Technical Articles
Steppedconical drills are one of the most popular drills, manufactured by Bucovice Tools - Cztool, they are made of HSS high-speed steel, which has a hardness of 62 HRC. This makes it possible to drill holes in materials up to 35 HRC hardness, such as steel, cast steel as well as non-ferrous materials. These drills also have a tensile strength of Rm= 800 MPa.
There are 5 products.
They are also produced from HSSE cobalt high-speed steel with 5% cobalt added, which gives the drill a higher hardness.
Tapered metal drill bit - stepped
Taperedmetal drills have a hardness of 64 HRC and a tensile strength of RM= 800 MPa. The conical drill is also more resistant to abrasion and any damage, and is definitely more resistant to high temperatures. It is equipped with two blades, which guarantee high precision and centricity of the drilled hole. no pre-drilling is required. Thanks to its tapered design, its removal from an already drilled hole is not a problem, so it is ideal for machining sheet metal even thin-walled. These step drills are designed for machining materials such as carbon, alloy and independent metal sheets, plastics and thermosets up to 4 mm thick. With the help of the conical drill, it is possible to drill, center, ream and deburr the holes made at the same time.
The conical drills are characterized by:
- deeply ground spring chamber, so that the cutting edges are sharp and free of burrs, thus prolonging the life of the drill and the good quality of the work performed with it,
- the back grind of the tapered drill adapted angularly, so the cutting edge is the highest point in the diameter,
- twisted chip groove ensures smooth operation and high performance. It perfectly discharges unbreakable chips,
- it has a taper at the end of the drill bit, which makes it much easier to pull it out of drilled sheets,
- it has a ground drill tip that allows centering as well as drilling through thin-walled materials.
- right-hand cone drills
- drills with a pitch angle of 90 degrees.
- The acute angle is 118 degrees
Steppedcone drills for metal can be installed in self-clamping drill chucks as well as key chucks. Self-clamping chucks are the most common and used chucks in any tool room, it facilitates quick installation as well as removal of any drill with cylindrical shank. It does not require the use of a wrench, just turn the ring by hand and bring the drill closer to it so that the jaws are clamped on the cylindrical shank of the drill. The key chuck was the chuck produced first, to mount the drill in it it is necessary to use a key with which to unfold or clamp the jaws. The construction of step dr ills consists of two parts: the shank and the working part. The shank part of the step drill is cylindrical with diameters 6, 8, 10, 13 mm, made of high-quality HSS high-speed steel. While the working part has a conical shape, which makes it easier to remove the cone drill from the hole after the work is done. Working in the right-hand direction, it has a cone angle of 90 degrees and a tip angle of 118 degrees. It is defined by the German DIN 1412 C standard. These taper drills are equipped with 9 degrees and two blades, which guarantee good quality of machining performed.
