The abbreviation VHM (from German Vollhartmetall), or carbide drills, is used to designate tools made entirely of carbide.
Characteristics of VHM carbide drills
Carbide is a tool material obtained by powder metallurgy methods from carbides of metals such as tungsten, titanium, chromium, tantalum or niobium. When exposed to high temperatures and high pressure, the comminuted carbides are compressed.
