Construction of a long drill bit for metal

In this category we present drill bits for metal according to DIN 340 NWKb. These are right-hand long drills with cylindrical shank produced by rolling method. The drill consists of two helical coils, so that the chips that are produced during the drilling process are easily discharged. These drills have 2 central blades. DIN 340 metal drill bits are made of HSS high-speed steel. This is an alloy steel used in the production of tools for high-performance machining. It owes its properties to a higher content of chromium, molybdenum or tungsten. Drills produced from this steel allow drilling holes in materials with a hardness of up to 35 HRC.

The long drill for metal with a round (cylindrical) shank is ideal for both ordinary hand drills and vertical drills, milling machines, lathes, as well as modern CNC machine tools. Long drills for metal are resistant to mechanical damage, including fracture and high and low temperatures. It is possible to drill holes in very harsh conditions (even in high temperatures up to 600 degrees C). They are also very durable. Thus, they will do any job and will not wear out too quickly.

What to check before buying long metal drill bits?

Before buying any long metal drill bit, you need to make sure about the type of its attachment in the device you have. If the drill ch uck has too small a range then it will not be possible to mount a drill with a larger shank diameter. Then you need to replace it with a self-clamping drill chuck or a key chuck in which there is a hole with the required shank diameter of the long metal drill in question.
