The professional M18 burnisher is designed for cutting external metric ordinary threads with a nominal diameter of 18 mm. The dies are made in accordance with the dimensional standard DIN 22 568. The cutting of the complete thread takes place already in the first working pass.
The dies are suitable for manual and machine cutting of d1 threads of M18 diameter. The thread pitch P is 2.5 mm, the outer diameter d2 is 45 mm, and the thickness h1 is 18 mm. These properties make it possible to cut at high speeds and the resulting high temperatures reaching up to 600 degrees C.
The high cutting parameters of dies made from HSS (High Speed Steel) allow thread cutting on workpieces made of very hard and hard-to-machine materials. These include unalloyed steels (carbon steels), metals, non-ferrous metals, metal alloys (brass, bronze), as well as thermosetting plastics.
For proper use of the thread cutter we need a M18 thread cutter holder - in the case of manual threading or a lathe thread cutter holder. The process of threading the external thread itself is very simple and in one pass. We hold the thread cutter, and after about two full turns, we reverse the thread cutter to break the chip and continue to screw the thread cutter onto the bar. The action of breaking the chip is repeated depending on the resistance of the threading process.
