UNF 5/16-24 torsion tapping machine is designed for making American unified fine thread in blind holes; in serial applications, it stabilizes cutting torque and surface quality, which promotes durability when working as machine Tap 5/16-24 fine thread.
The 5/16-24 UNF thread realizes a sixty-degree outline in accordance with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers B1.1 standard; a diameter of five-sixteenths of an inch corresponds to 7.937 millimeters, and a pitch of twenty-four coils per inch gives a stroke of 1.058 millimeters. Manufactured to German Deutsches Institut für Normung 374 standard, the C-shape (two-three coil attack) and forty-degree helical groove direct the chip upward, maintaining a clean profile for the bottom of the hole. A cobalt-infused high-speed steel core provides enhanced hot-strength; the uncoated version guarantees predictable guidance and a consistent effective diameter for a 2B fit class. Misalignment compensation and external cooling or minimal oil mist lubrication are recommended in the selection of toolholders, and the 5/16-24 blind hole tapping works well in cavities with limited depth.
