Drills of this type are called crown or trepanation drills. They are designed for making (milling) holes of large diameter. The cutting is done only on the periphery of the hole, which reduces the amount of chips produced, and the surplus material can be used as full-value material. Core hole drill 23 for tubular metal allows you to reduce machining time (by about 30-40% compared to standard drills). In addition, the advantage is still that by not cutting all the material, there is less power and tool consumption. The drills have a metric shank fi ¾ inch with the possibility of switching to Morse taper.
