The 0.49 mm HSS DIN 338metal drill bit is designed for making micro holes in structural steels, cast iron and non-ferrous alloys; in workshop work, with rigid layout and parameter control, it also works well as a 0.49 mm metal drill bit, maintaining stable trajectory and accuracy in IT12 grade.
The nominal diameter is 0.49 mm. The 118-degree apex angle facilitates centering and uniform cutting, and the helical, precision-ground grooves ensure continuous chip evacuation in the right cutting direction. The high-purity high-speed steel core features wear resistance and cutting edge durability. Length design in accordance with DIN 338 (normal length) promotes rigidity; the fi 0.49 mm steel drill bit is also used in steel applications, making it easier to maintain workshop diameter tolerance with high RPM, micrometer feed and emulsion or oil mist cooling.
Compliance with DIN 338 facilitates installation in standard chucks, and the holes produced qualify for IT12 class fits according to EN ISO 286. In practice, predictable diameter, alignment and stable micro-hole geometry are maintained even at full-through on thin-walled workpieces.
