Turning tool MCGNR 20X20-12 is a professional turning tool designed for external turning on conventional and CNC lathes. The shank, with a cross section of 20×20 mm and a length of 125 mm, provides the rigidity required for industrial machining. The geometry with an entering angle of 90° allows facing and turning along a shoulder.
The combination clamping system (M) ensures maximum clamping rigidity and quick replacement of the CNMG 1204rr insert. The negative geometry of the 80° rhombic insert with 8 cutting edges is well suited to roughing and medium machining, providing high cutting edge strength and cost efficiency thanks to its double-sided design. The tool is compatible with CNMG 12 inserts in various carbide grades — select the grade to match the workpiece material.

Insert installation and replacement for the MCGNR 20X20-12 turning tool
Instructions for the combination clamping system (M)
Insert replacement procedure step by step
1 Loosen the clamp
Loosen the clamping screw 2-3 turns
2 Clean the insert seat
Remove chips and debris
3 Install the insert
Fit onto the pin and press down
4 Tighten the clamp
Torque 1.5–2.5 Nm
Important: Do not exceed the recommended tightening torque — this may damage the thread in the seat or crack the insert.
Checks before starting work:

Note: Use coolant during machining — it extends insert life and improves surface finish. When machining without coolant, reduce the cutting parameters by 20–30%.
