SVJCR 25X25-16 turning tool – for longitudinal turning with light facing

Indexable turning tool 25×25 mm for a VCMT insert

Turning tool SVJCR 25X25-16 is an indexable turning tool designed for external turning on conventional and CNC lathes. The shank, with a cross section of 25×25 mm and a length of 150 mm, provides the rigidity required for industrial machining. The geometry with an entering angle of 93° allows turning along the wall with simultaneous light facing.

In the central screw clamping system (S), the screw clamps the VCMT 1604rr insert through its hole, so replacement requires loosening just one screw. The positive geometry of the 35° rhombic insert with 2 cutting edges is well suited to finishing, ensuring low cutting forces and a smooth machined surface. The tool is compatible with VCMT 16 inserts in various carbide grades — select the grade to match the workpiece material.

Typical applications of the SVJCR 25X25-16 turning tool

Cutting operations:

▸ Longitudinal turning — the 93° angle provides stable cutting along the workpiece axis with light facing
▸ Medium machining and finishing of steel and cast iron — positive VCMT geometry ensures low cutting forces and a smooth surface
▸ Machining shafts and bushings — a general-purpose tool for external turning of rotational parts
▸ Taper turning — machining tapered surfaces on CNC and conventional lathes
▸ CNC production runs — quick insert replacement and repeatable positioning

Compatible VCMT 1604rr insert

VCMT 1604rr

The cutting insert is not included in the set — must be purchased separately. VCMT insert. Positive geometry means that the insert is single-sided and has 2 cutting edges, providing low cutting forces and good surface quality.

Select the insert grade to match the workpiece material: P (structural steels), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum). You can find compatible inserts in the section "Related products" below.

Insert installation and replacement for the SVJCR 25X25-16 turning tool

Instructions for the center screw clamping system (S)

Insert replacement procedure step by step

1 Unscrew the screw

Unscrew the center screw 2-3 turns

2 Clean the insert seat

Remove chips and debris

3 Install the insert

Position in the seat

4 Tighten the screw

Torque 2.0–3.5 Nm

Important: Do not exceed the recommended tightening torque — this may damage the thread in the seat or crack the insert.

Checks before starting work:

▸ Tool overhang — do not exceed 1.5× the shank height without support
▸ Cutting edge height — set the cutting edge at spindle centerline height
▸ Insert seat condition — check that the contact surface is not damaged or worn
▸ Secure clamping — the insert must have no play in the seat
▸ Indexing — when an edge wears out, rotate the insert to a fresh edge (2 edges in total)

Note: Use coolant during machining — it extends insert life and improves surface finish. When machining without coolant, reduce the cutting parameters by 20–30%.

Frequently asked questions — SVJCR 25X25-16

This tool accepts inserts VCMT 1604rr in any carbide grade. Select the grade to match the workpiece material: P (steels), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), N (aluminum). You can find compatible inserts in the "Related products" section below.

The entering angle of 93° provides stable longitudinal turning with light facing.

The VCMT insert has positive geometry (clearance angle 7°), which means it is single-sided with 2 cutting edges. When one edge wears out, rotate the insert to a fresh edge.
