BSW 7/8-9 whitworth tooling
Whitworth's 7/8-9 BSW inch threading dies for cutting external threads. This is a uniform threading machine, which means that it makes a thread in one pass, after less than 2 turns, or more precisely 1.75 P, a full thread is already made. The principle of the tool is to screw it on (like a nut on a bolt), during which the blades of the tool cut the thread. The tool is made of high-quality SW7M high-speed steel from the HSS family. It is possible to use the dies both in manual and machine processing. An important issue when making threads by hand is the use of burnisher holders, thanks to which the proper execution of the thread is ensured and damage to the burnisher can be avoided. Thread cutters have chip holes that are designed to drain the cut material, depending on the size of the thread cutter there may be usually from 3-6 holes. In the working part of the burnisher, there are cutting parts (exist on both working parts) and a guiding part located in the center of the working part.
