Full profile insert for M10 and fine threads 1.5 mm BMA

The 16 ER 1.5 ISO BMA threading insert is a professional turning tool with complete metric profile made of BMA grade carbide for 1.5 mm pitch threading. The ISO full profile metric right-hand external thread insert cuts M10 standard threads and M12x1.5, M14x1.5, M16x1.5, M18x1.5 fine thread designs and any other thread with this pitch. This tool cuts a complete 60-degree profile including coil tips and nominal diameter alignment in a single operation eliminating the need for additional finishing. The BMA carbide grade provides cutting process stability and wear resistance when machining structural and alloy steels in series production on lathes.

Key benefits of the 16 ER 1.5 mm ISO insert

  • Dedicated 1.5 mm complete profile - cuts finished M10, M12x1.5, M14x1.5, M16x1.5, M18x1.5 threads with shaped vertices without the need for additional finishing operations
  • Cutting along with diameter alignment - dedicated insert cuts 60-degree thread sides, forms coil tips and aligns nominal diameter simultaneously
  • BMA carbide for machining stability - a grade characterized by high wear resistance and edge durability when threading steel materials
  • Toolholderinterchangeability - use in right-hand external 16 ER knives and left-hand internal 16 IR boring bars after changing the toolholder type
  • ISO metric standard - full profile design ensures compatibility with 6H tolerance nuts and interchangeability in accordance with international standards

The tool is used in mechanical workshops and manufacturing plants making standard M10 and fine threads with a pitch of 1.5 mm. The insert works well in the production of machine parts, steel structures and in production runs where high repeatability is required. The BMA carbide grade guarantees long tool life when machining various grades of steel. Ideal for series production on CNC and conventional lathes where thread quality and efficiency of the threading process without additional finishing operations count.

Frequently asked questions

1. In which toolholders can the 16 ER 1,5 ISO insert be mounted ?

The insert works with right-hand external turning knives having a 16 ER standard socket. At the same time, it can be mounted in left-hand internal boring tools with a 16 IR socket, which allows threading on both external surfaces of shafts and inside holes using the same tool with a pitch of 1.5 mm.

2. What thread constructions does the 1.5 ISO insert support ?

The tool is designed for the standard M10 thread with a pitch of 1.5 mm, as well as fine threads such as M12x1.5, M14x1.5, M16x1.5, M18x1.5 and all other metric threads with this pitch parameter. A full profile in accordance with the ISO standard cuts a complete thread with finished vertices and an aligned outside diameter that meets the standards for threaded connections.

3. How to calculate the profile height for a 1.5 mm thread?

H1 - Height of the thread outline given in [mm] || P - pitch of the thread given in [mm]
H1 [mm] = 0.6134 × P
For a thread with a pitch of 1.5 mm: H1 = 0.6134 × 1.5 = 0.92 mm
