The 0.38 mm HSS DIN 338metal drill bit is used for precision micro-diameter drilling in structural steels and non-ferrous alloys; in workshop applications, it provides a stable cutting path and diameter control in IT12 grade.
The working diameter is 0.38 mm, the point of the blade is formed at an angle of 118 degrees, and the spiral ground grooves promote effective chip evacuation in the right cutting direction. The body is made of homogeneous high-purity high-speed steel, which promotes wear resistance and maintains edge sharpness. The length execution corresponds to the normal length according to DIN 338. For process stabilization, high speed, micrometer feed, precision chuck and emulsion or oil mist cooling are recommended; under these conditions, IT12 workshop tolerance can be maintained.
Compliance with DIN 338 makes it easy to install in standard holders, and the holes obtained qualify for class IT12 according to EN ISO 286. In practice, even at full throughput, predictable diameter and alignment are maintained; this applies to drillings described by the formulation fi 0.38 mm drill for steel and drillings in materials with low to medium hardness.
