The first number in the designation is the shank height; the second is the blade height. Blocks for 26 mm blades have a 4.1 mm slot; those for 32 mm blades have a 5.3 mm slot.

The block accepts Smoxh SML 32 series blades — height 32 mm, length 150 mm. The last digit of the code indicates the cutting width in mm. Select the series to match the insert system you already use.

After every change in workpiece diameter, adjust the blade overhang and check screw clamping.
How far should the blade extend?
Overhang ≈ D/2 + 2–3 mm allowance. For a Ø39 mm bar: 39 ÷ 2 + 3 ≈ 23 mm — this blade length beyond the block jaw is sufficient to cut to the centerline. Every additional millimeter of overhang reduces rigidity.

Set the minimum overhang that allows the workpiece to be parted off — excess overhang reduces rigidity and causes vibration. When parting through solid material, direct coolant into the cutting gap and reduce the feed before breakthrough.
The SMLK 20-32 parting blade block is the foundation of a parting setup on a general-purpose lathe with a 20 mm tool post. One body accommodates 33 parting blades with a height of 32 mm — from MGMN inserts to the 151.2 system — so cutting width and geometry are changed by replacing the blade rather than the entire holder. The maximum parting diameter depends on the blade: with a 4 mm MGMN blade, it reaches Ø100 mm.
