Sets of drill bits for metal
Metal drill bits are cutting tools designed for drilling cylindrical holes in solid material or for enlarging existing holes.
What the drilling process looks like
We can divide the drilling operation into several stages:
- preparing the surface for drilling
- drilling, with a drill or scoring tool
- drilling the hole properly
- chamfering the hole or deepening it
Twist drills with cylindrical shank for drilling require a flat surface, so before drilling if the situation requires it, we must proceed to planning the surface of the future hole. After planning, we proceed with drilling, which will ensure stable operation of the drill and center it. If we do not have a machine then we can make the drilling with a point, it is important that this point is large enough to ensure the stability of the drill.
Making a set of drill bits
We have drill sets, manufactured with the utmost care and attention to quality and efficiency of use. Based on high-speed steel and supplemented with an admixture of cobalt, they make it possible to carry out turning and milling work at the highest level. They are designed for drilling holes in steel, structural and stainless steel and cast iron. Similar versatility in the use of metal drill sets makes them increase the efficiency of the work performed, as well as its productivity and accuracy. Drill bits for metal or steel or cast iron made according to DIN 338 make holes in workshop tolerance IT10-IT12 with the fact that we can obtain IT10 grade under very favorable drilling conditions. Such conditions can be obtained with a short drill shank shallow drilling and a rigid grip on the material in which the hole is being drilled. After the hole has been drilled, it is a good idea to proceed with deburring the surface of the hole, as there is almost always a flow of material left behind. In the event that after drilling the material we plan to countersink it, for example, with a countersink, this is already sufficient to get rid of the efflorescence.
Drill bits for metal in a steel cassette
Drills, included in our sets, are made of the best grade of HSS or HSSE high speed cobalt steel. The HSS high-speed steel group is a very wide group of steels and one of the best grades is SW7M steel and it is this grade that we should choose. HSSE cobalt high speed steel, on the other hand, is a steel with 5% cobalt added, which makes the drill bit about 2 HRC harder from 62 to 64 HRC and more resistant to abrasion and high temperatures. They allow use in more demanding materials such as stainless steel and cast iron, and often have the nomenclature Inox, i.e. for stainless steel. The sets of metal drill bits we offer are a convenient solution - the drill bits are placed in a steel cassette, which allows their sorting and easy storage and transportation.
