Fanar tooling dies are round-shaped - multi-shank tools designed for cutting threads on the external part of the workpiece, which is usually a shaft or other cylinder or external cone.
Types of button dies in the store
With regard to the structure of Fanar 's thread-cutters can be divided into their external shape. Currently, only circular button dies are already produced in the industry, but you can still find specialized square or hexagonal button dies.

Threading dies for external threading
Based on the type of thread to be cut, we can divide the dies according to the following division: metric dies, fine thread dies, inch-tube dies, Whitworth dies, unified dies, Pg dies, dies holders and threading kits. Metric dies come in two types: plain metric, designated M, and fine metric, designated MF. Both of these types of threads have an apex angle of 60 degrees and are measured in metric units [mm]. This is the most common thread in European countries. The dimensions of metric threading dies are defined by the German standard DIN 22 568. Threading dies for inch G threads belong to the group of pipe threading dies, since this is where the thread is most commonly used. This thread is commonly referred to as pipe thread, but in fact it is a pipe-cylindrical thread and is specified by DIN ISO 228, while the external dimensions of the thread cutter are described in DIN EN 24 231. Interestingly, inch thread cutters do not have different thread tolerances, there is only one tolerance without any designation. UNC and UNF unified American birth pins are the birth pins that are very popular in Europe right after metric and inch threads for pipes. They come in UNC plain pitch, UNF fine pitch and the less common UN, UNS, UNEF. UN threads are threads with a thread apex angle of 60 degrees, measured in inches. UN threads come in three thread tolerances 1A, 2A and 3A.
Thread cutting tool material
Fanar roundthreading dies are manufactured only from HSS and HSSE cobalt high speed steel. HSS dies allow threading materials with tensile strength max. Rm=800 MPa and hardness not exceeding 35 HRC. We can thread materials such as steel, cast steel and aluminum with them. Cobalt dies and threaders are designed for stainless steel and cast iron up to a hardness of 64 HRC.
